• Medium: 50% linseed oil + 50% odorless mineral spirits
- optionally very soft natural hair fan brush or old round squirrel brush for softening the edges.
- optionally Oleo Impasto Medium by MH, or other kind silica based gel medium

Details - Session 2
We’ll use a blurred version of the reference to emphasize value simplification when you squint. Keep that mental filter in mind throughout mixing.

Details - Session 1
A quick note about drawing
Drawing is often the most demanding part—especially in figure work. Since this workshop is open to all levels, use a two-track approach:
Plan A (recommended): Do your own drawing during the session.
Plan B: If it goes off track (or if you’re completely new), use the printable preparatory drawing to transfer and move on to the painting process. Keep practicing drawing, but for this class it’s okay to shortcut to painting.

Materials for Session 1
General setup
- Easel or a comfortable support
- Reference image: a good color print or a tablet (I’ll use an iPad) — folder above
- Screen for the YouTube/Zoom stream (TV/monitor/tablet)
Drawing
- White drawing paper, taped to a board or canvas with masking tape
- Graphite pencils: HB and 2H recommended
- Erasers: kneaded eraser + pencil eraser
- Ruler (~60 cm)
- Masking tape
Transferring / underdrawing on canvas
- Oil-primed canvas with a dry Raw Umber imprimatura (prepare in advance so it’s dry)
- Raw Umber (tube), palette, palette knife, paper towels, oil clamp, clip-on palette cup
- A fine pointed brush #1 (sable)
- Linseed oil and odorless mineral spirits
- Ballpoint pen
