Outdoor Figure Workshop
Florence • Villa Il Palmerino
May 8–10, 2026
Small group (8 participants).
What to expect
- Three days painting the figure from a live model outdoors in Florence — working in real, changing plein air light.
- You’ll paint alongside me, with demos and direct feedback as you work (small group, 8 participants).
- The goal isn’t polished “finished” paintings — it’s learning how outdoor light shifts color, atmosphere, and mood, and gaining practical knowledge you can rely on in your studio work afterwards.

FAQ
I’m not sure about my level — is this workshop suitable for me?
Some prior painting experience is recommended. If you’re unsure, just email me — I’m happy to advise.
Where will we be painting?
We’ll be painting at Villa Il Palmerino in Florence. From central Florence, it’s easy to take bus 11 or 7, then it’s about a 15-minute walk to the villa.
Do I need to bring my own materials?
Yes, you’ll need to bring your own materials. An approximate materials list can be downloaded here — the exact list will be very similar, and I’ll share it after registration so you’ll have enough time to prepare.
Can I paint with acrylic, watercolor, etc.?
We will focus exclusively on creating oil painting en plein air.
What language is the workshop conducted in?
English. (I also speak Ukrainian, Russian, and conversational Italian if needed.)
Where should I stay in Florence?
Participants arrange their own accommodation.
I recommend staying near Villa Il Palmerino, or choosing a place along the bus lines 7 or 11 (close to one of their stops) so getting to the workshop is easy each day.
Can we order lunch on-site?
Yes — lunch can usually be ordered at Villa Il Palmerino for around €15 per person. I’ll share the details closer to the workshop.
How do I get to Florence?
Florence has Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR), which is easily accessible by public transport to the city center. Alternatively, Pisa Airport (PSA) and Bologna Airport (BLQ) are well-connected to Florence by shuttle bus.
How does the deposit work (and what currency do I pay in)?
To reserve an early registration spot, you pay a non-refundable 30% deposit. The total early registration fee is $690 USD, and you’ll be charged in your local currency at checkout. The remaining 70% balance is due by April 15.
